HEAD OF MARKETING & SALES
The first project of JUMEME is co-funded by the European Union under the European Commission ACP-EU Energy Facility and other international donors. By implementing 25+ mini-grids in the north-western regions of Tanzania and providing electricity to 11,000 households, 2,600 agricultural enterprises, businesses and small industries, and > 80 public infrastructures (reaching > 80,000 rural citizens in total) by 2017, JUMEME aims at becoming one of the largest solar mini-grid operators in Africa.
JUMEME is seeking highly motivated personnel that will help scaling up the business and achieving the company’s goal of providing energy services to 1 million people by 2022.
JOB DESCRIPTION
Reporting directly to the General Manager, and if requested to the Board of Directors, the Head of Marketing & Sales (HMS) is responsible for acquiring customers in JUMEME’s field of operation and for promoting the companies’ energy services to households, communities and productive use customers. The HMS will establish business relationships with larger electricity off-takers such as telecom tower operators, mining companies or small and medium sized enterprises. The HMS will develop the company’s Corporate Identity and develop and implement marketing concepts for the promotion of JUMEME’s energy services in the villages.
Based on his/her track record of successful grant applications with international donors and funding agencies in the energy and/or agribusiness sector, the HMS will coordinate all fundraising processes of JUMEME.
Further responsibilities are:
Identify grant-funding opportunities for JUMEME and its productive use customers, establish contacts
with potential partners and prepare grant applications.
Coordinate the design of JUMEME website, corporate folders, information brochures, etc.
Administer and manage the collection and processing of all customer data.
Establish a customer care and management procedure.
Train and supervise sales staff.
Continuously keep track on and analyse revenue data, compare revenue data of different villages and
develop and implement marketing campaigns.
Promote and introduce JUMEME services to larger electricity off-takers and act as key account manager
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Professional qualifications must include a minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Sales,
Development Studies, Business Development or any other relevant field of expertise
Hands-on-mentality and strong operational engagement
Ideal professional experience includes: having worked as Sales, Marketing or Fundraising Manager in the
energy, telecom or agriculture sector with international organisations.
Exceptional written and oral communication abilities in English and Kiswahili
Strong organizational and management skills in complex and interdisciplinary tasks
Experience in managing budgets and delivering high quality results under tight budget and time
constraints
Proven experience in leading small teams
Very good computer skills, particularly MS Office, experience with graphic design software is an asset
Ability and readiness to travel regularly to rural areas and to work under challenging conditions
Ability and readiness to work independently, yet with profound team spirit
Ability and readiness to work under pressure and in flexible working hours
