Summary
of Position:
Silverleaf
Academy is a new group of affordable, high quality schools in Tanzania. Our
mission is to provide the highest quality learning at the most affordable
levels. We are launching our first set of primary schools in the towns of Moshi
and Arusha. Silverleaf Academy is looking for a visionary and inspirational
Head Teacher to provide professional leadership for the school. The Head
Teacher will ensure high quality education for all pupils and will be
responsible for the overall management and control of the school, reporting
back to central office on a daily basis.
The Head Teacher will also teach pupils on a daily basis.
This
position would suit an experienced Head Teacher with clear knowledge and
understanding of Tanzania’s Education
Curriculum or an ambitious and experienced Teacher looking for their first
headship post.
Duties
and Responsibilities:
·
The
Head Teacher will provide strategic leadership and overall accountability for
direction, development, standards achieved and quality of the school
·
Ensure
the day to day effective organization and running of the school including the
deployment of staff as appropriate
·
Organize
and support the induction of staff new to the school and those being trained
within the school
·
Responsible
for the standards and curriculum of all pupils, including monitoring of
progress towards achievement
·
The Head
Teacher will work closely to coach and manage all teaching and non-teaching
staff, in order for them to meet their full potential and high standards
expected.
·
The
Head Teacher will also pay a key teaching role on a daily basis, to ensure all
children reach their full potential
·
Working
together with the Education Lead to formulate the overall aim and objectives of
the school and policies, whilst ensuring they are implemented effectively and efficiently
·
Responsible
for implementing a broad and balanced curriculum for the school
·
Evaluating
the standards of teaching and learning in the school, making sure proper
standards of professional performance are established and maintained
·
Ensuring
that proper standards of behavior are implemented
·
Ensuring
information betweenthe school and head office is received promptly to enable
teachers to carry out their professional duties effectively and central
management to stay informed on key performance indicators
·
Ensuring
that the health and wellbeing of children is encouraged through a nurturing
environment
·
Promote
the positive involvement of parents in school life
·
Support,
motivate and inspire both colleagues and pupils by leading through example
·
Take
responsibility for child protection issues as appropriate
·
Delegating
duties and managing all teaching and non-teaching staff accordingly
·
Liaising
with other Teachers to plan and coordinate work
·
Deal
successfully with situations that may include tackling difficult situations and
conflict resolution
·
Work
successfully with a range of external agencies
Qualifications/Experience:
·
Degree
in Education/Early Childhood Development or related field
·
Qualified
Primary Level Head Teacher/Teacher from a recognized school minimum 3-5 working
experience in Tanzania.
·
Professional
knowledge and experience of teaching all areas of the Primary Tanzanian
curriculum
·
Proven
experience and clear understanding of the essential qualities for effective
teaching and learning
·
Strong
leadership, teamwork and management skills
·
Proficiency
in written and verbal skills in both English and Swahili
·
Interest
in technology coupled with ability and/or willingness to use electronic tablets
for delivering the curriculum
·
Experience
working in an English-Medium school
·
Experience
of opening a new school will be an added advantage
