Job title: Media Preparation Supervisor 
Setting: Plant Tissue Culture (PTC) Laboratory 
Location: Dar es salaam, Tanzania 
Hours: Monday – Saturday/ 8am – 5.30pm (occasional late hours when schedule 
warrants; be “on-call” to respond to system alarms, nights and Sundays when needed) 

Job summary: 
As a team member, to execute day-to-day media preparation activities and as a
supervisor, to train, lead and supervise duties and responsibilities of the entire media
preparation team according to the Good Laboratory Practices (GLP). Duties include but are
not limited to preparation of chemical stocks and buffers and production of different media
types; autoclave sterilization; clean and maintain laboratory equipments and materials
according to manufacture standards and media preparation room according to cleaning
schedules; develop, maintain and update the Media Preparation Service Manual and
Quality Control and Standard Operating procedures in accordance with industry
regulations; maintain stock inventory and record keeping; develop and refine PTC
protocols. The media preparation supervisor will work in a team with other departmental
supervisors and laboratory manager and will be answerable to their queries to ensure
smooth and effective workflow.

Education/Experience Requirements: 
- Diploma/BSc/MSc/PhD in Microbiology/Chemistry/Biochemistry/Plant Tissue Culture 
or any related degrees. 
- Relevant laboratory experience of more than five years. 
- Fluently speak, read and write both in English and Kiswahili. 
- MS Office- Word, Excel, Powerpoint
